About us
Growing Creation Farm

Our name says it all, for this is our growing creation. We bought our land in SW Colorado at the end of 2019 with the idea that we would use it to escape the hot Arizona summers from where we had been living for almost 25 years. Then 2020 hits and we all remember those days all too well. So as the world shut down and we were limited to go places, we brought our little camper to our little slice of Colorado. We spent that first summer (2020) just getting the most important necessity put in (water). As we traveled back and forth, to camp and work, we started to fall deeply in love with the land we had become stewards of. Our mindset went from using it as a cool getaway to let’s move permanently and start a new chapter.

We had been doing the same old grind for years. Working at our construction company, chasing the dollar, so to speak. My husband in charge of the day-to-day schedule and grueling work, and me doing all the office responsibilities and bookkeeping. We had spent 20 years growing our concrete construction company and had carved out a nice life for ourselves. Although business was booming my husband’s health was being affected, physically and mentally. Concrete construction is a physically hard job, and dealing with employees and clients was mentally challenging. I had for years wanted something different, something more aligned with our soul purpose. I had started a course in herbalism and during that course I also discovered permaculture and was taking a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) program. As I watched my online course videos Aaron would overhear the content and became very interested in permaculture and farming as well. So after completing my herbalism certificate and PDC we decided to make the switch.

With both our boys grown and out of the house we got busy. We spent the next two years traveling back and forth from Arizona to Colorado (5.5hrs). In that time, we put in all the utilities, roads, fencing, a metal building with a small apartment in it, and then by 2022 we did the unimaginable and closed our company, sold our house and moved to our land in Colorado. Once here we put in a walapini greenhouse, swales, a huge hügelkultur bed, and a small garden.

Then in 2023, when all the snow finally melted, we got busy and put in 30 fruit trees, 20 berry bushes, medicinal plants and herbs, and added a large garden. We are still adding to it, recently we added 6 long in-ground growing beds for vegetables and 2 long in-ground growing beds for medicinal plants. Aaron wants to do market gardening and I am passionate about growing medicinal plants and herbs. We spend most of our time outside, surrounded by the beauty of nature. We have literally seen this land transform into a thriving ecosystem.

We are stewards of our land first and foremost. We will always have large areas of native untouched land dedicated to the native plants, insects, and wildlife. We never use chemicals, and once we initially till our beds we will never till them again, moving towards no-till gardening. We care deeply about the health of our soil and use biodynamics and cover crops to help increase the health and diversity of it. In our name the word Creation is a synonym for Cosmos, which is part of the biodynamic process. Our goal is to be connected to nature, earth, and the universe and all its loving energy. To bring that energy into our growing practices, and ultimately into the food and medicine we grow. We want to be the change we hope to see in the world. We hope to create a sustainable, diversified, regenerative, thriving farm. One that will outlive us by millennia and beyond.

As we are so new and still growing, we are limited in products to sell. We have been selling a small number of vegetables at local farmer’s markets and a few dried herbs to some herbalists. In the coming years we plan to sell more veggies and fruits at farmer’s markets as well as local markets and restaurants, and will be expanding the selection of dried herbs, seeds, plant starts, and other natural products we make. So, for now our website will mostly be informational. Keep us in mind for a future source of medicinal seeds and plants, and for a source of organically grown fruits and vegetables. We may even have events in the future, such as pick and pay days, farm tours, medicinal plant walks, and much more.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and we look forward to being a source of health and wellness in the future for you and your loved ones.
